The small things

♫ คริสต์มาสเป็นเวลา (Christmas is a time to love) ♫
Christmas ben wae la~ Christmas ben wae la~ Christmas ben wae la~

The children have been singing this song. Missing them so much
My heart is so full of thanks and joy. Thank God for bringing me back to Care Corner each time and being with me every step of the way. I'm thankful that I got to share my life with the children. And I'm even more thankful that the children and staff at Care Corner warmly share their lives with me. I definitely felt like i was home there.

Over the past 17 days there, we did many things... spent Christmas and New Year together. Mookata, Ice-skating, Christmas skit, and many more. Moments with no big plans or planned activities, just day to day life, were so wonderful in itself as well. The small things mattered as much as the big things.

God used our 'five loaves and two fishes' and multiplied them. I tried to pick up as many Thai vocab as I could along the way and everyone was so helpful. With all our efforts, and with God's help, we could communicate and help the children with their English and Math homework.

At the night market getting vegetables and eggs for the children. We bought vegetables that filled half the truck. The vegetables were heavier than it looked! Ended the night vegetables shopping with some noodles for supper. The conversations we had, be it through simple Eng and Thai, or with the help of Jacinth's translation, were so enjoyable.

The sounds of drums coming from the church caught my attention, so I made my way to it. As i reached the door, Chi called me from the stairs "Pi Bella!" And so I followed him up the stairs to the church. I was so curious as to who was playing the drums so well. I was pretty sure that it must have been one of the older boys. When I reached the end of the stairs, I took a quick glance at the stage, and my jaws dropped... because... I saw no one there. WHICH MEANT that my little Chi was the one drumming away. I could hardly believe it! He sure has some talents in drums! He even taught me some simple drumming thereafter. The few hours watching him drum and having him (Kru Chi. Haha!) teach me the drums felt like mere minutes. We laughed so much together! It brought so much joy to my heart seeing that he has grown so well.

I particularly remembered some deep moments of conversation I had with him in Jacinth's car while we were on the way to the seriously big and good Mookata in the city area. I asked him about his sister and his parents. I asked him if he'd still be at Care Corner the next year and so on. He replied with questions like: "What if I'm not at Care Corner anymore? Will you still come? What if you don't come back to visit?"

Also, not forgetting we all had a crazy jamming + dancing(?) session in the car. Blasted loud music and jammed to it because Chi and I both needed hongnam (toilet) real badly but we were still stuck in a bad traffic... did our best to distract ourselves with some loud music

We went to this huge carnival with the older ones after Mookata. It was sooo fun! There were many game stalls (we all love the shooting games!) We watched a weird snake show and had a second round of ice-cream. Jerry and Boy bought Guinea pigs from a pet stall (yeah there was a pop-up pet store). It was drizzling and ground was muddy. But i wouldn't wanna have it any other way. It was wonderful the way it was.

Here's Elysia helping the children with their homework! We caught a glimpse of what they learn in school. Glad we could help them with their Math and Eng work. Their Eng homework were quite difficult. Had an impromptu Thai lesson with Pi Tae too. Haha! Woohoo

With joy,
Bella
